Secure Your Denture with Dental Implants
If you lost all your natural teeth, you’ve probably tried a traditional denture. It’s the most convenient solution to replace an entire arch of missing teeth that’s been used for well over 100 years. Although they are common, they still have a bad reputation for looking and feeling fake, but several advancements have made them more realistic than ever. Unfortunately, despite the enhancements, they will also have their limitations. You don’t need to settle for anything less than the best. At Pearl Dental Associates, we can help you enjoy a close replica of your natural teeth using implant-retained dentures.
3 Reasons to Choose Pearl Dental Associates
- High-quality materials for strength, durability, and aesthetics.
- Placement and restoration in-house.
- Personalized solutions for each patient.
How Do Implant-Retained Dentures Work?
A conventional denture is made from an impression of your mouth to create a comfortable fit when held to your gum tissue using suction or an adhesive. This restores your ability to maintain a balanced diet while also investing in a youthful appearance by supporting your facial tissues. Although they are an effective treatment, they will always have their limitations.
Implant-retained dentures allow you to permanently eliminate slipping and irritation using strategically placed implant posts. They are inserted into your jawbone to serve as new tooth roots while also anchoring your denture to your jawbone.
Am I a Candidate for Implant-Retained Dentures?
If a traditional denture didn’t give you the results you wanted, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Generally, if you have good oral and general health, you can undergo the treatment, but we may recommend additional procedures based on your individual needs, such as a sinus lift or bone grafting.
To ensure your new smile succeeds, you’ll also need to remain committed to your oral health to decrease the risk of your implant failure. Besides your home oral hygiene habits, visit your dentist at least twice a year for a cleaning and checkup.
The Implant-Retained Dentures Procedure
The process of rebuilding your smile will occur in multiple stages, but it is time well spent. After you’ve healed from any previous treatments, your implant dentist surgically places your posts into your jawbone. Over the next several weeks, your jawbone fuses to the posts through a process called osseointegration. After your jawbone has healed, special fixtures called abutments are placed on each post. Your custom-made denture is attached to the abutments to secure it in place.
